The circlip is also called a retaining ring or buckle, which is a kind of fastener. It is installed in the shaft groove or hole groove of the machine and equipment to prevent the axial movement of the parts on the shaft or the hole. There are two removal types of circlip. One is the expansion type, the other is the contraction type.

Use applicable tools to remove or install the circlip according to its shape or installation position.

Caution for installation of clamp spring
Some axial clearances are adjusted with snap rings.
Ensure that the snap ring can rotate smoothly after assembly to confirm that the part is reliably installed in the snap ring groove.
(In some cases, the snap ring cannot be rotated, depending on the position used.)
If the snap ring is deformed, replace it with a new snap ring.
Installation and removal method of shaft clamp (circlip)
1. Expansion type clamping spring
(1) Use snap ring pliers
Place a snap ring pliers in the gap at the end of the snap ring and hold the other end of the snap ring with your hands. Spread the snap ring pliers and take the snap ring out or fit in place.
(2) Use a flat head screwdriver
In the gap between the snap ring ends, place a flat-head screwdriver on each side, sharing the two flat-head screwdrivers, and tap the screwdriver.
To fit the snap ring in place, press the snap ring down gently with a brass bar and tap with a hammer on the end opposite the open end of the snap ring
Note:
● Use a cloth block to prevent the snap ring from popping out.
It shall be ensured that the remaining metal chips on the brass rod are removed.
2. Shrink type clamp spring
(1) Use snap ring pliers
Put the snap ring pliers into the snap ring hole, shrink the snap ring pliers, take out the snap ring or fit the snap ring in place.
(2) Use a flat head screwdriver
Using a slotted screwdriver, gradually lever the inside out from the edge of the circlip to remove.
To install the snap ring in place, press the snap ring with a flat-head screwdriver until the snap ring fits securely into the retaining groove.
(3) Use of Taiwan Silver
Fit snap ring on shaft. Clamp circlip with a vise and press in for installation.
